The story:

 Lines going this way and that maketh a real cool not-checkered-not-striped pattern. And the mix of turquoise green and indigo blue on the same side of the color wheel also gives the diagonal and horizontal stripes a calming sense of cohesion. 

We love the ease of this dress and her loose-fit silhouette. The black piping cleverly holds the whole look together!
